Video: Lower Emissions Essential to Climate Change Push

As governments work to create energy-saving transportation solutions, auto experts say they are working to create additional alternative fuels. During the C40 Large Cities Climate Summit in New York, Shell executives discussed new alternative gases including the company’s Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) fuel and biofuels made from leftover food particles. GTL is a clear liquid fuel that is designed to reduce carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide emissions. Toyota North America President Jim Press says with the number of drivers on the road increasing, the auto industry must seek alternative solutions that also promote sustainable growth. Clinton Climate Initiative Senior Director Goran Carstedt says one of the purposes of the summit is to help businesses, including those in the automotive sector, reduce greenhouse gases. The Summit is being held May 14 -17.
