While Champ Car let the fastest Chinese driver, one capable of winning races, slip right through its fingers without even testing the guy, Bernie Ecclestone (
shown right wishing Ho-Pin Tung well before the start of the Barcelona GP2 race) is far smarter and scooped German F3 champion Ho-Pin Tung right up and put him in GP2. Bernie knows they need a driver capable of making headlines in China for his Chinese GP. Meanwhile Champ Car brought in a Chinese backmarker to race in the Atlantic series. He's doing so bad they're wasting their time. Someday they will realize that "heroes" will make or break their race series.
