Haug cautious ahead of qualifying

(GMM) After the silver cars topped the final pre-qualifying practice time sheet on Saturday morning, McLaren-Mercedes' Norbert Haug joined the rest of the Barcelona paddock in wondering whether Lewis Hamilton can score his debut pole in Spain.

"We carried out an absolutely respectable program," the German told the broadcaster Premiere, denying that the MP4-22s were carrying particularly low fuel loads.

But he warned: "The Ferraris are four and six tenths behind us — that is surely too much.

"On the other hand, running a lot fuel in this session does not make a lot of sense.

"I think we are in a fairly good condition, but we are maybe not right out the front."
