Vegas was the right kind of street race

In this SPEEDTV.com article Robin Miller talks about how good the Vegas GP street circuit was. As we said in a number of Hot News items throughout the weekend, as far as the track itself, this is the best street circuit in the world. It's even better than some natural terrain road courses. We spoke to a Cosworth engineer who told us the fastest cars were hitting 184 mph in Vegas, and for a street circuit with high downforce/high drag wings that's pretty fast. Now the question remains whether race owners Dale Jensen and Brad Yonover can make this race profitable. Surely they did not recoup their $15M investment the first year and the grandstands were not full, we reckon because they held the race on Easter Sunday, which had to be bad for ticket sales. The race also did not have a title sponsor, which should change by next year. Hopefully, as one of our rumors suggests, this race will not be on Easter Sunday in 2008.
