Bridgestone Motorsport is tire of the Vegas Grand Prix

LAS VEGAS – Well-known in racing competition around the world, Bridgestone Motorsport is now the official tire of the Vegas Grand Prix, which kicks off the 2007 Champ Car World Series over a 2.44-mile course through the streets of Las Vegas April 6-8.

“Bridgestone Motorsport is proud to join the Vegas Grand Prix as the official tire," said Al Speyer, Executive Director, Bridgestone Motorsport. “Like everyone else in the Champ Car World Series community and its fans around the globe, we are looking forward to this event and the start of the 2007 season. I cannot recall the last time an inaugural event generated this much excitement. We know the race management and organizers well, and we know from experience that they will deliver a top-notch event. Bridgestone Motorsport is thrilled to be a part of the attention the Vegas Grand Prix is sure to draw."

Bridgestone undertook its first motorsports program in the early 1960s as an effective way to demonstrate the strength of the brand to larger audiences abroad. The company developed its first competition tires for the 1963 Japanese Grand Prix.

Since then, Bridgestone has excelled in many forms of motorsports world-wide, including Formula One and the Champ Car World Series. In fact, every car on the 2007 Champ Car and F1 grids will be racing on Bridgestone Potenza tires

“Bridgestone is the backbone of auto racing," said Jim Freudenberg, president and chief executive officer of the Vegas Grand Prix. “The company has rich tradition and we are ecstatic to have them as our official tire."

The Vegas Grand Prix marks the first time that open-wheel racing has ever been staged in the streets of Las Vegas. The event is drawing internationally acclaimed drivers from the Champ Car World Series, Champ Car Atlantic and Historic Grand Prix racing series.
