Janis in for Czechs in Mexico

Jarek Janis will return to A1GP action this weekend after his strong performance in the Sebring 12 hours race last weekend. He is ready for to fight for victory at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City that hosts next round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.

After nearly a one month break since the A1GP cars raced in Durban, South Africa, the teams are going to experience their third continent in as many races. The Czech Republic team have nominated Jarek Janis for the upcoming event, which will be his second race in A1GP and first in 2007. He made his debut last year in Indonesia but having taken part in a number of rookie sessions, Janis has much more experience of the car which should help him to learn a new track.

The upcoming event will be very busy for Charouz Racing Systems that are responsible for preparing the Czech car. The team have to split resources due to clash of the A1GP race with the official Le Mans Series test. However, the team undertook all guarantees in order to not compromise the performance and quality of the work on both sites.

The Czech team have nice memories from last year in Monterrey, Mexico after Tomas Enge scored points in both the Sprint and Feature races. However, the move from Monterrey to Mexico City means that all teams will have to start from scratch and all data from last year will be irrelevant.

Jarek Janis: “I have never been to Mexico and it will be another new country to new. Anyway, it is one of the nice things of the A1GP, we have possibility to see new countries and places. I am really looking forward to drive a single-seater again. It has been few months since I drove it last time but I will not take long time to get used to it again. The race at Sebring was a demanding one but I have one week to recover and I do not have to adjust to a big tie difference at least. Given the fact that the race has been moved from Monterrey to Mexico City we are all on the same boat and everyone has to start from zero. I will do, as always, my best to help the team to the best possible results and I believe that we have a chance to add more points to our tally."

Antonin Charouz, seat holder: “It is going to be quite a demanding weekend to us on all fronts because our team and drivers are going to be in action at various tracks. Tomas (Enge) is racing in China in the opening FIA-GT race, Jan (Charouz) is testing in France and also Jarek should has been there. However, we decided to nominate Jarek because of his experience that is very important on a new track. It would be very difficult for a total rookie. Our team have to manage the A1GP event and the LMS test but we have enough resources and experience that it will not affect us in a negative way."
