LP Watch joins ALMS

The LP Watch Group, boasting an 84-year history of precision, hand-crafted Swiss timepieces featuring Lucien Piccard, LP Italy and LP Swiss Sports brands, is proud to announce a multi-year partnership with the American Le Mans Series. The LP Watch Group is the Official Watch and Timekeeper of the world’s premium brand of motorsports.

“One of the many unique aspects of American Le Mans Series racing is that every event is based on time, never on distance like most other events," said Scott Atherton, Series President and CEO. “As a result there is a direct connection between the Series and its Official Timekeeper that doesn’t exist in other forms of motorsport. The relevance of this marketing partnership has real substance behind it that makes sense – and good business – for all involved."

The LP Watch Group will award class winners in each of the Series’ 12 championship rounds with a premium timepiece celebrating the American Le Mans Series. These limited edition watches, as well as new collections being manufactured by The LP Watch Group, will be available at all 12 Series races, online at americanlemans.com and at select retail locations.

In addition, The LP Watch Group is presenting its high-end, mechanical movement watches to each American Le Mans Series class champion at the annual season-ending awards ceremony in Monterey, Calif. Class winners at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans also will be rewarded with similar timepieces.

“We are looking forward to building on the tremendously positive experience we had with the American Le Mans Series in 2006," said Sol Friedman, Chairman of The LP Watch Group. “The strong demographic that the prestigious event attracts, along with the association with other world-class corporate partners, defines this opportunity as a huge win for LP Watch Group."

The LP Watch Group also has plans in place to use logos from the American Le Mans Series, IMSA, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans in its activation strategy. The Series also will brand many of its promotional and informational timing spots as being provided by The LP Watch Group.

“This is a significant announcement in that we are bringing yet another premium, non-endemic partner into the American Le Mans Series," Atherton added. “The timepieces of The LP Watch Group are renowned for their elegance and sophistication, and accurately reflect the leading-edge technology that is the hallmark of the American Le Mans Series platform. The Official Watch category has proven to be a very significant position throughout motorsports – and we have one of the best partners in the business. We look forward to a long and very successful relationship with The LP Watch Group."
