Sir Stirling Moss on Wind Tunnel

Widely known as the best driver to have never won the Formula One World Championship, legendary racer Sir Stirling Moss, will be Dave’s guest on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on SPEED.

Beginning his racing career at the age of 18, Moss went on to win nearly 40 percent of the races he entered, including 16 wins in Formula One and a win in the highly prestigious Mille Miglia in 1955. Over the course of his 14-year driving career, he claims to have driven some 84 different cars …from Lotus and Cooper, to Maserati and Mercedes, where he was a teammate to the legendary Juan-Manuel Fangio. And for four consecutive years, 1955 – 1958, he finished second in the F1 World Championship. His racing career ended in 1962 when he nearly died in an accident at Goodwood in England.

Still involved in the racing world, Stirling will be a guest at this weekend’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida, where he and a handful of other racing icons will be on hand to reminisce about the old days and to raise money for charity

SPEED on SPEED: In addition to Moss, American F1 driver Scott Speed also will be interviewed via satellite on this week’s Wind Tunnel. Entering his second season for Red Bull’s Scuderia Toro Rosso, recently-signed Speed is hoping to take his team to the next level. With power coming from Ferrari and a year of experience under his belt, expectations are high for Speed in 2007.
