Engine woes in Mexico

At least six drivers will go to the rear of the field for the Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 because of engine changes. The high altitude of Mexico City (7,400 feet) can wear on the engines, as well as the high-RPM main straight of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez course.

Three rookies – Roush Fenway Racing's David Ragan, Kevin Harvick Inc.'s Kertus Davis and JR Motorsports' Shane Huffman – will go to the rear of the field for the start.

They will be joined by two experienced road racers: Roush Fenway's Michel Jourdain and Richard Childress Racing's P.J. Jones. The Michael Waltrip Racing team with driver David Reutimann also changed an engine.

"Everybody is running really high RPMs," said Drew Blickensderfer, the crew chief for Jourdain. "The good thing is our failure was different than the [Ragan car] failure." Scenedaily.com
