Fellows to focus on NASCAR
Ron Fellows, recently let go by the Corvette ALMS team, is stepping into a Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet for the Busch Series Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 this weekend at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. As his career winds down Fellows was looking for something a bit easier to drive so he is focusing his attention toward getting a NASCAR Cup ride that will allow him to someday win a Cup race.
"The Corvette, especially with the longer races, is getting a lot more difficult as you get older," said the 47-year-old Fellows, who will drive only part time for the Corvette team this year. "The way things were panning out for '07, the timing was right. We talked about it last summer, whether or not that was my last season. I probably would prefer to do the whole schedule, but the way things have worked out, it's the right time."
"It will also free up a little more time," Fellows said. "We have some unfinished business in NASCAR. I want to spend a little more time focusing on that, primarily getting a Cup win before I'm done."
