Todt to stay with Ferrari until he retires
The Frenchman, who joined Ferrari in 1993, announced that he would be staying at Maranello until he retires.
"At the automobile level my career finishes here," he said on Tuesday. Todt had previously confessed that were it not for the major upheavals at Ferrari this season with the retirement of Michael Schumacher and the departures of Paolo Martinelli and Ross Brawn, he too would have called it day.
However, it now appears that the 51-year-old – the son of a doctor – has changed his mind although he has not revealed when he plans to retire.
Todt once again reaffirmed his great admiration for the driver he brought in from Benetton in 1996, transforming Ferrari’s fortunes after years in the doldrums.
"Michael was an extraordinary driver," he said. “If he retired then he must have had his reasons."
Todt intimated that Schumacher was also planning a long-term career at the Italian Scuderia, a team where he secured five of his seven world titles and for whom he has often expressed his affection and commitment.
"He who has enjoyed great success must also be an intelligent person. Michael is very intelligent to set his sights on a future position at Ferrari." iespnstar
