A breakthrough for microwaving tires

The man behind the innovative tire microwave, an alternative to tire blankets, has been asked to trial his new in-car system with a top championship-winning race team. Stuart Hepworth’s latest ‘Black Frequency’ system utilizes a version of infra red technology. It enables drivers to heat their tires at the flick of a switch from the car’s cockpit. Black Frequency has been developed in conjunction with Lancaster University and is an evolution of the initial FRANC tire microwave, which was used by Audi Team Goh when it won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2004.
