Daytona 500 Finish Sparks Ticket Sales for TMS

The controversial finish in Sunday’s Daytona 500 has piqued the interest of racing fans 1,172 miles away from Daytona International Speedway. Since Sunday’s season-opening race won by Kevin Harvick, Texas Motor Speedway has witnessed a significant increase in ticket sales from a year ago for its Samsung 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race weekend scheduled for April 12-15. Texas Motor Speedway recorded an increase of 20 percent Sunday and 38 percent Monday over last year’s sales during the same two-day period. “Controversy, mixed with some drama and the freshness of a new season, charged up Texas Motor Speedway fans the past two days and we hope the trend continues," Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “Heck, I’ll take controversy for the next five or so weeks if ticket sales can remain like this." Tickets, including some prime seating on the frontstretch, remain available for the Samsung 500 race weekend that will feature the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and Busch Series. For tickets, call the TMS ticket office at (817) 215-8500 or go online to texasmotorspeedway.com
