Williams contribute to new technology development

(GMM) F1 team Williams is part of a consortium of private investors who are hoping to benefit from the development of innovative new aerodynamic technology.

The group, led by the aircraft manufacturer Airbus but including a range of companies, has matched a reportedly $17m government grant to develop computer technology that aims to replace work traditionally done in wind tunnels, the Liverpool Daily Post said.

Airbus said in a statement: "This technology will revolutionize the design process and dramatically reduce the time it takes for a broad range of products to go from concept stage to market."

The UK's Trade and Industry minister Alistair Darling said: "Britain is already a world leader in aerospace and we want to keep it there. This investment supports the type of new technology we need."
