Vegas Grand Prix road improvements nearing completion

Resurfacing and improvements to the 2.44-mile, 12-turn track for the Vegas Grand Prix is progressing well, according to Chris Kneifel, circuit manager for the event scheduled to race through the streets of downtown Las Vegas April 6-8. The City of Las Vegas Department of Public Works has already completed about 80 percent of the street improvements required for the race.

Presented by DDB Ventures, the inaugural festival of speed and entertainment will include Champ Car World Series, Champ Car Atlantic and Historic Grand Prix races along with concerts, boxing matches, a charity gala, a poker tournament and more.

Recently, Main Street was repaved from Bonneville Avenue to Carson Avenue, while Carson has been resurfaced from Main Street to First Street and from Casino Center Boulevard to Fourth Street. The intersection of Grand Central Parkway and Bonneville was also resurfaced with additional work scheduled on Grand Central Parkway in February following a major function at the World Market Center.

Additional work around the Golden Nugget bordered by Casino Center Boulevard, First Street and Bridger Avenue is also being completed soon.
