Bourdais furious with Tracy

After Paul Tracy ran into the inside of Sebastien Bourdais in the last corner of the last lap of the Denver GP taking both drivers out of the race, Bourdais climbed out of the car and was one very mad Frenchman.

Bourdais ran across the track where Tracy was standing and had some harsh words with him. He then shoved Tracy. Tracy then signaled to Tracy to come back over here. When Bourdais came back more words were exchanged and then Tracy shoved Bourdais. At that point the safety crews broke them up. (Photo right courtesy of Champ Car)

Bourdais was ushered to the back of the safety truck and waved his arms in disgust, having lost a 2nd place and valuable points toward the championship.

Tracy was already on probation for his incident in San Jose two weeks ago that saw him take out Alex Tagliani that resulted in a fight.

Bourdais' Opinion

Back in the pits Bourdais said "He's just the biggest (jerk) in the world, What else can I say?"

"We caught Paul Tracy who was having fuel pickup problems and he just crashed us.

"He was obviously in big trouble, he was running out of fuel but that's no excuse to crash a competitor. All I can say is that I hope it was clear enough that he tried to crash me in Turn 3 on the lap before, he then tried to crash me on the backstraight when he blocked me on the inside and I had to go around the outside, on the marbles.

"I gave him plenty of room, I went straight braking for Turn 9. Basically he completely overshot the braking point, got sideways and ran into the side of the McDonald's car.

"He is on probation so I hope the race officials do what is necessary to correct that unfair situation because it could have been a brilliant day for the McDonald's car. We still had the fastest car at the end of the day and turned the fastest lap times consistently at the end of the race.

"I just asked Paul, "What do you want from me?" I had passed him and he just crashed into me. I just pushed him because he was asking for it, but it didn't go any further."

Tracy's Opinion

“We had fuel pickup problems the last five laps of the race. It was pretty frustrating. I had a seven second lead but when the engine started to cutout. Sebastien was able to close in. He made his move in the last corner of the last lap on the outside, and when you already have 35-point lead in the championship and want to take that risk over two points that’s what you get.

"To be honest, I don’t feel bad for him; he’s taken me out plenty of times so I don’t feel too bad about something like that on the last turn of the last lap."
