Disappointing 2008 Season Retirement for Andreas Wirth
After having competed in only three rounds of competition in the Atlantic Series this season Wirth is now faced with every driver's nightmare – disappearing sponsorship. Having seen his initial 2008 plans to race in Europe evaporate a few short months ago makes this retirement from the Atlantics that much more difficult for this determined young racer.
Commenting on his predicament Andreas said, "I just can't believe this is happening. It's very unfortunate that some of my supporters have had to back out – we've barely gotten started this year. It's a real blow that my season is over, and it's certainly not good. Beyond that though is the effect this has on my team. John and Sue Brooks have been very good to me over the years and they gave me a chance to make a comeback this year – I feel really bad about everything that's happened and worry about the situation that this leaves them in, and all of the guys on my crew. Everyone's worked so hard this year already, and we still had so much to accomplish, it's really upsetting that we won't get to see it through. I have to thank everyone at Brooks Associates Racing for their hard work and understanding, for helping me to develop my skills as a driver, and most of all for making me feel a part of their racing family. I also want to thank my family and the sponsors that have stuck with me, I really appreciate the understanding and caring everyone is showing at this difficult time. This really touches me on a personal level and it's is not easy for me."
Despite this setback, Andreas will not give up – he will do everything to get back on track again.
