Corning to sponsor Twin 100s at The Glen

Corning Incorporated, the title sponsor of The Glen’s Indy Pro Series race since open-wheel racing returned in 2005, will double its pleasure this year by titling both races of the Indy Pro Series with the Corning Twin 100’s during the Watkins Glen Grand Prix, July 6-8.

“We are proud to further our relationship with a partner so vital to our community," said Watkins Glen International President Craig Rust. “Corning Incorporated’s decision to sponsor both 100’s demonstrates their continued commitment to the world-class racing held here at The Glen."

This will be the first year that Corning Twin 100’s will run at the famed road course. In 2005 and 2006, a single Corning 100 was run during the Watkins Glen Grand Prix weekend. The Indy Pro Series introduced doubleheader weekends last season as a cost-effective way to add races to the schedule and to entice IndyCar Series teams to participate in the series. Drivers will be racing hard both times they hit the legendary road course because each race will be a points race and have an impact on the 2007 season standings.

The addition of the second Corning 100 will give race fans two opportunities to see the talented up and coming stars of the Indy Pro Series, and will give the drivers more track time on the challenging road-course. The green flag will drop on the first Corning 100 on Saturday, July 7, and will be part of a full day of racing that includes the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series and Historic Grand Prix. The field will then invert for a second Corning 100 prior to the Watkins Glen Grand Prix on Sunday, July 8.
