Star Mazda to move under IRL umbrella

With Tony George saying no to the Champ Car Atlantic Series being part of the IRL ladder system, we are now hearing that consideration is being given to moving the Star Mazda series over to the IRL as the step below Indy Lights. Makes sense because the Atlantic cars would have turned faster laps times than the Indy Lights and caused much embarrassment. There is no chance that the Star Mazda cars will embarrass the Indy Lights series as they definitely are slower.

We said long ago that the new Atlantic car should have been a Formula 3 spec car rather than its own proprietary formula. That decision will eventually come back to haunt that series and it already is.
