GP2 schedule to be released

Organizers of the new GP2 series are expected to release the 2005 calendar within the next two weeks. The calendar will feature ten rounds, all of them supporting Formula One races in Europe. It is expected that the championship will start on April 17th, at Magny Cours, followed by races at Barcelona, Monaco, Nürburgring, Silverstone, Hockenheim, Hungaroring, Istanbul, Monza and Spa-Francorchamps. An announcement regarding the timing of the races is anticipated at the same time. It is thought likely that GP2 races will take place on Saturday afternoons, after F1 qualifying. Plans to move the races to Sunday mornings are likely to be shelved because of the impact on TV coverage in the important South American market. F-3000.net
