Bottas tops opening F1 practice at Mugello
As usual, Valtteri Bottas has topped opening practice for a F1 GP weekend. The #77 Mercedes driver turned a lap of 1m17.879s in opening practice for the Tuscan GP at Mugello.
Max Verstappen was just 0.048s back in his Red Bull Honda while a surprisingly quick Charles Leclerc was third for Ferrari. Of course no one is trying hard yet until the track gets rubbered in.
Lewis Hamilton was 4th quick in the #44 Mercedes 0.530s behind his teammate while last weekend’s Italian GP winner Pierre Gasly was 5th quick for AlphaTauri.
Why was Sebastian Vettel so much slower than his teammate? Vettel ran the hard compound tires while Leclerc ran the softs.
