NASCAR: Tributes for Larson pour in after winning Cup Series title
The congratulations started appearing all over social media after Kyle Larson capped off an dominant season with his first NASCAR Cup Series championship at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.
Larson was running fourth when a caution on lap 282 allowed him to pit for fresh tires and fuel. That pit stop was the No. 5 team’s best of the playoffs and allowed Larson to leapfrog the other Championship 4 drivers on pit road and take first place on the restart. Larson didn’t relinquish the lead afterward and crossed the finish line first to earn Hendrick Motorsports its 14th title in his first year with the organization.
