Our Rating Data Table has been added below, but we are still missing the data for the NHRA finals from Pomona due to a delay at Nielsen.
Who would have thought F1 in America could pull in 1.4 million viewers on a Sunday afternoon in a head-to-head with NFL. It indicates F1’s growing popularity in the USA. IndyCar avoids scheduling races once the NFL season begins, knowing its TV ratings will suffer horribly.
IndyCar’s 2022 season finale at Laguna Seca in September only drew 507,000 viewers on NBC, down over 27% from last year, and up against the NFL. It indicates F1 is now approximately 3 times as popular as IndyCar in the USA, a big improvement since Liberty Media bought the series.

Rating Analysis
Formula 1: The Sao Paulo Brazilian GP last Sunday on ABC drew 1.4 million viewers, up 69% from year’s 839,000 viewers (801K + Streaming = 839K) last year on ESPN2.
Update: The audience peaked at 1.6 million viewers between 2:30-2:45pm ET, the race ending.
Update: It was the largest live Brazilian GP audience on record and was the 3rd-largest F1 U.S. Behind Miami (2.6 million viewers), Canadian (1.7 million) Grand Prix Events.
TV audience of ’22 – a phenomenal result considering it was up against NFL games.
Update: Largest local market rating were:
Tampa-St. Petersburg at 1.6
West Palm Beach and Austin tied at 1.5.
Charlotte – 1.4
Atlanta, Norfolk, Greenville – 1.3
Philly, Cleveland, Sacramento – 1.1
