F1: Ferrari’s computer Systems hacked

Ferrari has announced that it has suffered an attack on its computer systems. The company has announced that it will not accept any ransom requests.

It was not the sports part that was hit, but the road part and several contact details of some customers were stolen. The Maranello team, however, has announced that it will not agree to pay any ransom requests : “Agreeing to such requests – says Ferrari in a statement – would finance criminal activities and allow the authors of the threats to perpetuate their attacks. There is no impact on the company’s operations”.

“Upon receiving this request, we immediately launched an investigation in collaboration with a world-leading cybersecurity company . Furthermore, we have informed the relevant authorities and are confident that they will do everything in their power to carry out the investigation. We believe the best course of action is to inform our customers, we have notified our customers of the potential exposure of their data and the nature of the event.”

To see how the matter will evolve, we just have to wait, to understand who will win this tug of war between Ferrari and the hackers.
