Supercars: Historic Erebus 1-2 in Sunday Race 1, but Feeney wins Race 2 in Perth
–Press Release–
Sunday Race 1
Supercars’ self-proclaimed underdog Erebus has today scored an historic result, the team’s first-ever 1-2 finish at the first of two races in Perth this afternoon.
Toowoomba’s #9 Coca-Cola Camaro driver Will Brown claimed his second career victory since his debut in 2021 ahead of teammate and Championship leader, #99 Coca-Cola Camaro driver Brodie Kostecki.

Perth-born Kostecki extended his points lead with his second placing, with veteran Ford driver James Courtney third in his Snowy Rivers Caravans Ford.
Brown’s victory was also the first win in Perth for Erebus since Will Davison won aboard a Mercedes-AMG in 2015.
Chaz Mostert (#25 Mobil 1 Optus Mustang) finished fourth ahead of Supercars’ Champion Shane van Gisbergen (#97 Red Bull Ampol Camaro), who raced from ninth to fifth.
Brown led the field into Turn 1 from pole, with former Erebus driver David Reynolds slotting into second aboard his #26 Penrite Mustang.
From there, Brown was never troubled leading from start to finish for a famous win.
Race 9 pole-sitter Broc Feeney (#88 Red Bull Ampol Camaro) was 12th ahead of his start from the front of the grid later today.
Kostecki will carry an extended 88-point lead over Mostert into Race 9, with van Gisbergen 96 points down in third.
Brown is 177 points behind his teammate in fourth, with Erebus extending its teams’ championship lead to 153 points ahead of the final race of the event later today.
Sunday Race 2
Generation next has arrived at Supercars with three youngsters filling the podium in the final race of the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint.
Red Bull rising star Broc Feeney held on for his third career victory following a tense battle with the Erebus duo of Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki who finished second and third respectively.

It’s the third win in four rounds, and second in four races for Feeney who replaced the great Jamie Whincup in the #88 Red Bull Camaro at the start of 2022.
The second placing for Brown capped off a huge day for the 24-year-old Toowoomba local, who claimed pole and a race win in today’s earlier race.
For Kostecki, his third placing was his third podium of the weekend and ensured the 25-year old WA native walks away from his home round maintaining a 100-point Championship lead over Chaz Mostert who is the best of the Ford drivers in second after three rounds.
Defending Supercars Champion Shane van Gisbergen remains third ahead of Kostecki’s Coca-Cola Racing teammate Brown who is now fourth in the standings.
The Coca-Cola Racing Team now holds a 185-point lead in the Teams’ Championship over the Red Bull Camaro duo of Feeney and van Gisbergen.
The Penrite duo of David Reynolds and rookie Matt Payne are the best of the Ford teams, 459 points behind Brown and Kostecki.
In the final race of this year’s annual trip across the Nullarbor that attracted a crowd of 34,052 fans, Feeney led from start to finish to claim his first ever win in Western Australia.
The result was the Camaros 8th win in nine starts since replacing the Hold Commodore at the start of 2023.
With three events under their belts, the new Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs will be put to the test on one of the most technical circuits on the calendar, Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania from 19-21 May.
In 2022 van Gisbergen won all three races in Tasmania and the three-time Supercars’ CHampion wil be hoping for similar form to close the gap on Kostecki when the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint gets underway in just under three weeks’ time.
