F1: Pirelli to introduce stronger tires starting at Silverstone

As first reported by RacingNews35, Pirelli plans to introduce a new specification of Formula 1 tire from the British Grand Prix at Silverstone onward.

Because the F1 cars are so much faster this year, faster than anticipated, the higher speeds are placing higher loads on the tires and Pirelli wants to avoid blowouts due to tire construction failure.

Introduced at Silverstone, the stronger construction will be used the remainder of the year and in 2024.

What F1 and Pirelli intend to avoid is the exploding Goodyear tire we see in NASCAR.
