Le Mans Hour 15: Toyota takes lead from Ferrari

At the 15-hour mark of the 24 Hours of Le Mans the #8 Toyota Hypercar has moved ahead of the #51 Ferrari 499P Hypercar by 10-seconds as the two battle tooth and nail at the front as daylight has hit the French circuit after a long hard night.

LMP2: The #34 Inter Europol Competition Oreca now leads by less than 3-seconds over Robert Kubica in the #41 Team WRT.

GTE Am: The #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari leads from the #54 AF Corse Ferrari.

Garage 56: The NASCAR/Hendrick Camaro with Jimmie Johnson aboard is currently sandwiched by the top-2 Ferraris is GTE-Am as it has regained its lost 2 laps. It runs in 28th overall, soon to be 29th as a Ferrari is about to smoke it.

15 hours after the green flag the Hendrick Motorsports pit crew athletes have performed 18 pit stops, changing all four Goodyear Eagle tires 17 times (the other pit stop was for an aero adjustment).

“We had the opportunity to do some testing before, so this isn’t their first rodeo doing this. We did a roughly 30-hour test in Sebring, so we have some experience on our side. We’ve been working on making sure these guys are hydrated, eat well and actually get a little bit of sleep overnight so they would be sharp in the morning. I think catching a little bit of sleep and taking care of their bodies is going to put us in a pretty good position to finish the race strong” – Evan Kureczka, Hendrick Motorsports Pit Crew Coach
