Apple Maps Delivers Stunning 3D Formula 1 Experiences Ahead of the 2026 Season

Apple has quietly supercharged Apple Maps with rich, interactive Formula 1 content just days before the 2026 season begins, giving fans an immersive way to explore circuits from their iPhone or iPad.

The update, first spotted on February 25, 2026, introduces a new “2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World” guide (also referred to as the Global Grand Prix Guide) featuring all 24 circuits on an interactive world map. It ties directly into Apple’s landmark five-year partnership with Formula 1, which makes Apple TV the exclusive U.S. home for every practice, qualifying, sprint, and Grand Prix session starting this season.

The standout addition is the ultra-detailed treatment of the season-opening Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in Melbourne (March 5–7). Users can now explore:

– A fully rendered 3D circuit with realistic curbs, labeled grandstands, footbridges, and all 14 turns clearly numbered.
– 3D landmarks including the F1 Pit Garage/Paddock Building, Lakeside Stadium, Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre, and the Finish Line.
– Pop-up points of interest for race gates, restrooms, water stations, first aid, and merchandise stands, complete with step-by-step walking directions to grandstands.
– Nearby Melbourne city icons such as AAMI Park, Eureka Tower, Luna Park, Marvel Stadium, and more.

Additional 3D enhancements have already appeared on several other historic venues, including Circuit de Monaco, Silverstone, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Red Bull Ring, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, and the Miami International Autodrome, though Albert Park currently receives the most comprehensive treatment.

The guide is promoted inside the new Apple TV F1 channel under “More to Explore,” alongside F1 The Movie, Apple Fitness+ workouts, Apple News coverage, and other F1 content. Apple also highlights fun facts in its App Store “Get Ready for the 2026 Formula 1 Season” story, such as the hailstorm that hit Hungaroring the day before filming for the Brad Pitt movie.

Unlike Apple’s dedicated Newsroom post for the Monaco Grand Prix experience last year, this 2026 rollout appears to be a soft launch with no separate official press release. It was discovered by 9to5Mac and quickly confirmed by MacRumors, AppleInsider, and others. The enhancements align with the October 2025 partnership announcement, in which Apple pledged to amplify Formula 1 across its ecosystem—including Apple Maps, Apple Sports (with live data, leaderboards, Live Activities, and widgets), Apple Music playlists, and Apple Fitness+.

F1 fans in the U.S. can now plan their track visits, virtually walk the paddock, or simply geek out over the layouts before watching live on Apple TV — where full-season access is included at no extra cost for subscribers.

The experience is rolling out now and will expand with fresh 3D details for each upcoming race throughout the year. To check it out, open Apple Maps, search for “2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World,” or head straight to the Albert Park guide.

With the 2026 regulations, new cars, and a fresh U.S. broadcasting era underway, Apple’s Maps integration adds another layer of excitement — turning the world’s most glamorous motorsport into something you can literally explore in 3D from your pocket.
