IndyCar News: GXO Logistics and Armed Services YMCA to back Hunter-Reay’s Indy 500 effort
The Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team today announced GXO Logistics and Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) as Official Partners of the team as they support the entry of the No. 31 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, piloted by Ryan Hunter-Reay (pictured) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 next month.
Ryan, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2012 INDYCAR SERIES champion, was previously announced to drive Arrow McLaren’s fourth entry for this year’s Indianapolis 500, joining the team’s full-season lineup of Pato O’Ward, Nolan Siegel and Christian Lundgaard. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native – nicknamed “Captain America” – brings a wealth of experience and a proven championship pedigree to the team with 395 INDYCAR SERIES starts, 18 victories and 47 podiums across 21 seasons. Ryan was a contender last year at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,” leading 48 laps and competing at the front of the field before a fuel-related issue sidelined his car with just over 30 laps remaining.
GXO Logistics is a global logistics leader with more than 150,000 team members across more than 1,000 facilities. The organization specializes in helping its clients efficiently solve complex logistics challenges with technologically advanced supply chain and ecommerce solutions at scale.
Currently celebrating its 165th year, ASYMCA is the oldest military support organization in the United States. The organization works to enhance the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind, and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life, with a focus on providing needed programs and services for junior enlisted personnel and their families.
The primary partner for the No. 31 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet will be announced soon.
Arrow McLaren today also announced key members of the No. 31 team who will work closely with Ryan during the Month of May. Brian Campe, Director, Advanced Engineering at LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, will serve as Race Strategist. He previously won the Indianapolis 500 in 2015 as Juan Pablo Montoya’s Strategist and Lead Engineer. Additionally, Olivier Boisson, Head of Damper Engineering at Arrow McLaren, who was part of Arrow McLaren Team Principal Tony Kanaan’s Indy 500-winning team in 2013, will be Ryan’s Race Engineer. Didier Francesia, Shop Crew Chief at Arrow McLaren, will work as the No. 31 Crew Chief in search of a third career Indy 500 win (2008 and 2021).
