Others to copy Williams diffuser

Williams tech director Sam Michael reckons it's only a matter of time before "half the grid" copies the team's innovative diffuser design.

When Williams first unveiled their 2009 challenger there were some questions about the legality of the design, as there were with Toyota, who sport a similar looking rear diffuser.

However, with the FIA having given the design the green-light, Michael believes most of the grid will soon be copying it.

"It was something that in various forms teams have been doing for two years, so it wasn't really a big issue for us or the FIA. So it was something that we clarified with the FIA well over a year ago," Michael said.

"I am sure they (the other teams) will copy us. I would be amazed if at least half the grid in Melbourne doesnt have it."
