Heylen may not return to Champ Car

UPDATE The author said he doubts Champ Car will make it in 2008 but Jan Heylen told Autoracing1.com today that those were not his words and that Champ Car has been a great series and he is trying to put a deal together for 2008 in Champ Car. To cover his bases in case it does not work out in Champ Car, yes he is looking at ALMS and Grand-Am too.

10/24/07 In this Belgian article Belgian Champ Car driver Jan Heylen says that he won't be back in 2008 and is looking for a ride in ALMS or Grand-Am. Therefore, one has to wonder whether Champ Car will be back at Zolder in 2008, since Heylen is one of the few drivers from Belgium with the requisite experience. He also says, like many others, that he doubts Champ Car will exist in 2008. Statements like this, if not true, cast Champ Car in a very bad light for all the obvious reasons.
