Wheldon wants out of Ganassi team

This Yahoo Sports article speculates that there is bad blood in the Target Chip Ganassi IndyCar team and that Wheldon wants an early exit from his contract to pursue the open Sam Hornish seat at Penske Racing. They also speculate that AJ Allmendinger and Ryan Hunter-Reay could be candidates for the Wheldon seat at Ganassi. Allmendinger recently signed to drive some Busch races with Ganassi which could parlay into a full-time IRL ride if Toyota lets AJ out of his NASCAR contract. Ryan Hunter-Reay has made an immediate mark in the IRL as a rookie and we know that Ganassi has tried before to steal Hunter-Reay away from Champ Car. At the time Hunter-Reay stayed loyal to Champ Car and what did he get? They turned their backs on him so now this personable American, who is a proven race winner, will further his career in the IRL and bring his popularity to that series. Champ Car's loss is the IRL's gain.
