Will IRL adopt standing starts?

The IRL has copied everything else Champ Car has done, and with another horribly out of order field for the start of Sunday's Indy Car race at Mid-Ohio, maybe we'll now see the IRL copy Champ Car's standing starts. In fact almost all the IRL starts this year have been misaligned. Some races have even appeared to be single file. Sunday's Champ Car race in Edmonton saw another perfectly executed standing start. Gone are the days of complaints and false starts in Champ Car because someone on the front row jumped the start, and there are now less first turn accidents.

"The start wasn't one of the best things I've ever seen," Dario Franchitti said.

"It was tough to see what happened to them. I was also upset at losing places with the whole thing. As a team, it wasn't our best moment, put it that way."

"I knew (Castroneves was going to start fast, but I got on him quick as I could. He just really got on it," Danica Patrick said. "I was surprised they threw the green being that separated, but they did and next time I'll know better."

"I could tell with Helio being on the pole that it was just going to start the lap before it started. He always goes so early," Scott Dixon said. "I think he kind of screwed Danica there because the pace car pulled to the left and he went as soon as the pace car went. She had nowhere to go. She had to wait an extra few seconds before the pace car actually pulled off. Our line was already strung out."
