Karthikeyan to replace Winkelhock

(GMM) Narain Karthikeyan's agent says the Indian driver is still in the running to replace dumped Spyker racer Christijan Albers for the balance of 2007.

While Markus Winkelhock looks set to make a home debut at the Nurburgring, 30-year Karthikeyan – who raced for the team's former Jordan guise in 2005 – is competing with fellow pay-driver Christian Klien for the other seven grands prix this year.

"Colin Kolles spoke to me this morning," Karthikeyan's agent Mark Perkins told Zee News.

"We are still in dialogue."

He denied, though, that Silverstone based Spyker has already made Karthikeyan a solid offer, explaining that so uncertain is the situation that there is currently "no point" discussing it yet with the test driver's current employer Williams.

"What Spyker have given us is not a finished offer," said Perkins, also suggesting that the Dutch team's final decision might be delayed beyond Wednesday.

He revealed: "We are hopeful that a decision will be known this weekend."
