Another driver aid on road to F1?

(GMM) F1's governing body could be preparing to introduce to the sport arguably the most effective driver-aid available, according to reports.

'BBC' says talks between Max Mosley and the manufacturer-backed grand prix teams could result in stability control being legalized for use on the single seaters.

Williams co-owner Patrick Head is quoted as saying the introduction of stability control, which electronically corrects an unstable car in the middle of corners, would be an "interesting and complete about-face from Max"; the FIA president who traditionally argued against the existence of expensive technologies.

Spyker's Mike Gascoyne observed that the technology would result in "fewer and fewer mistakes" from the drivers.

"Is that what F1 needs?" he asked. "No, I don't think it is."

A spokesman for the governing body said he was "not in a position to say whether it's a direction we'll go in."

He added: "I'm not even sure we're close to a set of discussions where it could happen."
