Martin to drive Chevy?

UPDATE This rumor is upgraded to 'partially fact' with today's announcement – see Hot News page. However, although Martin is switching from Ford to Chevy, this is still not the Hendrick Racing Busch announcement that still can be coming.

11/22/06 Mark Martin has won the most Busch Series races in NASCAR history, 47, and if Hendrick Motorsports gets its way, win No. 48 will be in one of its cars.

The team is talking with Martin about driving one of its Busch Series cars next season, but nothing has been decided, according to a statement released by Hendrick General Manager Marshall Carlson.

"We have had communication with Mark about the possibility of running select Busch Series races next season in one of our cars," Carlson said. "We're obviously excited about the possibility of working with a driver of his reputation, but discussions are in the preliminary stages, and at this point, we have not made firm plans."
