Toro Rosso to announce drivers by Monday

(GMM) Gerhard Berger and his fellow Toro Rosso chiefs are hard at work to finalize the Faenza based team's driver lineup for 2007 in the coming days, we can reveal.

It is understood that the Austrian, who co-owns Toro Rosso alongside Red Bull magnate Dietrich Mateschitz, is staging decisive meetings at his office in Tyrol with the goal of confirming the lineup before the new year dawns.

The 47-year-old former grand prix winner, Berger, has apparently called off a traditional event for local media in order to meet his deadline, amid speculation that Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed's seats are not assured for next year.

Spyker refugee Tiago Monteiro and Sebastien Bourdais could be among the contenders for the roles, despite the Champ Car champion's insistence that he will only be considered for 2008.

2006 'Friday' driver Neel Jani, meanwhile, has left the team in order to pursue a Champ Car seat, opening up a possible test ride for Red Bull junior driver Michael Ammermuller, 21.
