UPDATE We also hear that the Paul Stoddart deal to enter Champ Car is indeed done and it will be good. So good in fact that there is a reasonable chance it could be a 3-car team. Meanwhile the Bob Gelles effort to enter Champ Car appears to have gone cold, at least for the moment. Kevin Kalkhoven told us today that there will be 22 cars on the grid next year, and not more, because Panoz simply cannot produce anymore cars. As it is they need to build at least 35 cars (including spares) by the start of the season.

11/11/06 We have been told that Champ Car's soon to be announced TV deal (perhaps this coming week before or at the awards banquet) will be REALLY good. Our response to that was, "yeah, we've heard that before," to which the response came, "no this time it is REALLY good." We hear it will be at least a three-year deal and will include network coverage domestically.
