Carroll to miss Honda test spot

(GMMf1NET) As well as Anthony Davidson, there will be another loser in Super Aguri's apparent decision to run an all-Japanese F1 lineup in '06.

Honda test driver Anthony Davidson had hoped for the ride alongside Takuma Sato, meaning that the Englishman will probably have to settle for the 'Friday' Honda seat.

But the Irish Independent newspaper reported on Tuesday that Adam Carroll, an Ulsterman, was first in the queue to fill the primary test job if Davidson had found a spot on the 2006 F1 grid.

Rather, 'Taku' Sato is likely to line-up alongside a countryman this year, dashing the hopes not only of Davidson, but the young up-and-coming GP2 driver.

Carroll won three GP2 races in 2005, including the prestigious Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps rounds.

''A year's testing would be absolutely fantastic,'' Adam admitted, ''but a race driver is what I want to be.''
