Chase Drivers may get separate point system

NASCAR may consider a separate point system for the 10 drivers in the Chase for the Championship. The sanctioning body wants to reduce the penalty for a bad finish to promote more racing by the leaders. In the first two years of the Chase, the winners have combined to win only one race during the playoffs. Augusta Chronicle

NASCAR chairman Brian France said the Chase format is working and NASCAR doesn't plan any major changes in the off-season. "We will look at it when the season ends," France told Speed Channel on Sunday. "But my sense is anything we do would be a small adjustment." France didn't say what that adjustment might be, but he did clarify one point. The Chase won't change to a separate points system for the 10 drivers in the playoff, as some of the Chase contenders have suggested. Dallas Morning News
