Rossi’s June deadline

UPDATE Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has denied reports they have given Moto GP champion Valentino Rossi until June 2006 to decide if he will make the switch to F1.

"Maybe there's already been too much said about him regarding this issue," Montezemolo told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm certain that a person who has been so successful on motorbikes will know what to do.

"In the meantime we're glad we've been able to give him the chance to test and enjoy himself and it's been good for him to see how much attention to detail there is in F1," Montezemolo added. "Switching to four wheels is a decision he needs to take without any pressure. Valentino knows that if he decides to come to F1 it is because he knows he can win here too."

11/17/05 Ferrari has reportedly imposed a June 2006 deadline for Valentino Rossi to decide to switch to F1.

'Motorcycle News' said the Italian, and multiple MotoGP champion – who has tested the Italian team's grand prix single seater three times – had still not committed for 2007.

''I've never said I've decided to go to F1 and I still can't say that,'' the 26-year-old told the magazine.

''The problem is that I am still a motorcycle rider in my mind.''
