Da Matta has $2 million offer from IRL

UPDATE #2 “PKV and I are still talking and we are not too far apart," said da Matta at Mexico City. “But the Andretti-Green offer is a serious one. For sure the IRL is a mainly oval series and I mainly like road and street circuits in the Champ Car series, but the opportunity to go to the best team in the IRL is interesting. PKV is a good team but a young team and one that will take some time to be at the top of the game. “I think I will probably be back with PKV. I have a meeting with (co-owners) Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser this week and we will see what happens." SPEEDTV.com 11/06/05 Word from the Champ Car paddock is that there is absolutely no way that Cristiano would ever consider driving in the IRL. In the first place his parents are adamantly opposed to it as is Cristiano himself from both a personal and career point of view. He would drive Brazilian stock cars first. Steve Levinson 11/06/05 AutoRacing1.com heard this morning at the Four Season Hotel in Mexico City that Cristiano da Matta may have a $2 million offer to race in the IRL in 2006. His agent, Fernando Paiva, has been hanging around the Newman/Haas folks all weekend, and it's assumed he is trying to get his driver back into that team.
