Will Champ Car blow through the open IRL door?

The door is open. Will anyone representing the Champ Car World Series walk through? With Chevrolet and Toyota on their way out, there's not much good news for the IRL. TV ratings were up this year, in part because of the success of rookie driver Danica Patrick, whom the series has marketed aggressively.

However, now it will give all those new fans 17-percent fewer chances to see Indy Racing League events. Not to mention sponsors will get less for their money. Will there be fewer full-time teams next season? Maybe. Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, the IRL appears to have taken more than one step back. NSSN
