2006 IRL Schedule

UPDATE #3 This rumor is upgraded to 'fact' with today's schedule release by the IRL. 09/12/05 We have it on good word that when the IRL releases its 2006 schedule on Tuesday Chicagoland will indeed be the season finale as shown below. We hear the schedule will be two less than 2005, with Fontana and Phoenix being dropped…..two more events in a long list of ex-CART races that the IRL has failed at. The IRL might add a Canada race later. 09/10/05 AutoRacing1.com asked Tim Sullivan, IRL Public Relations, this morning at Chicagoland whether their 2006 schedule will be out this weekend.

AutoRacing1.com: Tim do you have a preliminary race schedule for 2006?
Sullivan: No we do not.

AutoRacing1.com: Do you know if the Chicago race will be scheduled for about this same date next year?
Sullivan: More than likely. We are hoping to release our schedule soon but not everything is buttoned up yet.

09/09/05 The Indy Racing League will announce a 2006 schedule this weekend that trims two months from its season. Next season is expected to begin March 26 at Homestead-Miami Speedway — three weeks later than this year's event at the same track — and end Sept. 10 at Chicagoland Speedway.
