A Monterey street race?

This Monterey Herald article suggests a street race in downtown Monterey, California after seeing the success here in San Jose this weekend, and after Champ Car dropped the nearby race at Laguna Seca. Unfortunately it's too late. Now that Champ Car has a race in San Jose they would not do another in nearby Monterey. We also doubt it would ever get government approval.
