Toyota to build hybrid in USA

The first gas-electric hybrid vehicle that Toyota Motor Corp. plans to make in North America will be the top-selling Camry sedan at the company's flagship plant in Kentucky, according to Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Japan's leading business newspaper, citing company sources. Toyota's representatives in North America dismiss the report as speculative. "No decision has been made yet," said Daniel Sieger, a spokesman for Toyota's North American manufacturing operations. He reiterated Toyota's position: A decision is expected by the summer, and if Toyota chooses to assemble a hybrid in North America, it would most likely be at an existing plant. Detroit Free Press
