Road courses wearing on Hornish

UPDATE Sam Hornish Jr. participated in Wednesday’s test sessions wearing a brace on his right hand, the result of a tendonitis in his thumb. “It doesn’t hurt anymore," Hornish said. “They just want me to wear this for three weeks so it doesn’t come back. It’s like a repetitive-motion injury. I got a bit of a sprain in it from not having enough room (in the car). I kept going with it and didn’t do anything about it soon enough." Surgery is not expected on the injured thumb, and Hornish does not expect to be wearing the brace for the IRL opener March 6 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. SPEEDTV.com 01/26/05 Word on the street is that Sam Hornish Jr. has tendonitis in his right wrist from all the shifting he has been doing trying to get up to speed with road racing for the upcoming IRL season. We also hear that when he was testing one of Team Penske's old Champ Cars he was a bit tight in the cockpit. The car was originally set up for Gil de Ferran or Helio Castroneves. Mark C.
