Manufacturers moving ahead with breakaway series

Look for a big push in early 2005 by the GPWC to begin in earnest the creation of their new F1 series. A source close to GPWC told The Independent newspaper: “We are close to signing. This will set in motion the plans to set up the alternative series by 2008 at the latest." It is expected that the banks, who recently won their court case over Bernie Ecclestone for control of FOM will open up talks with the manufacturers soon. In doing so Bernie's control over F1 will begin to slip, but collectively do they have enough brainpower to outsmart Bernie? Only time will tell but don't bet against Bernie.
