BRDC to ‘consider’ new deal

(GMM — Nov.10) The British Racing Drivers' Club is waiting for Bernie Ecclestone's new proposal for a 2005 grand prix at Silverstone. The 74-year-old impresario said he would be 'shattered' if the Club did not sign a deal after achieving the teams' go-ahead to stage a nineteenth race next season. ''If there is a new proposal … which makes financial sense,'' read a portion of a BRDC statement, ''(it) will be seriously considered by the board.'' Meanwhile, a Ferrari F1 member told the media on Tuesday evening that Jean Todt and back-up Ross Brawn did not attend the London meeting for 'personal' reasons. He said Todt is on holiday in South America, and technical director Brawn's mother had just died.
