Kaz Grala Becomes Youngest Pole Winner In Daytona History

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series rookie Kaz Grala made history on Friday afternoon – becoming the youngest driver ever to win a pole in the NASCAR's three major touring series at Daytona International Speedway.

Grala led both rounds of Friday's qualifying session and beat out his GMS Racing teammate Johnny Sauter with a lap of 180.676 mph to secure his first-career Truck Series pole. Sauter held onto the second spot with a lap of 180.227. Spencer Gallagher (179.935), Christopher Bell (179.598) and Timothy Peters (179.480) rounded out the top five.

At 18 years, 1 month and 26 days, Grala is the youngest driver to ever win a pole at Daytona, beating out the previous record holder, Dylan Kwasniewski, by more than six months.
